Transtec Terms & Conditions of Sale
1. Scope of Warranty
-
Reconditioned Units: Covered for 6 months or 6,000 miles from the date of invoice, whichever occurs first.
-
Salvage/Second-Hand Units: Covered for 3 months or 3,000 miles.
-
Testing: All units are supplied as "dry boxes" (no oil) and require professional programming and adaptations after installation.
-
Exclusions (Labor & Recovery): TransTec does not accept any liability for vehicle recovery, removal, or refitting costs under any circumstances. In the event of a suspected fault, the unit must be returned to our premises in Woking for inspection.
-
Voiding Warranty: The warranty is strictly void if the unit is fitted incorrectly, auxiliary parts (coolers, etc.) are not checked/replaced, or if the "Running In" guidelines are not followed.
-
Ownership & Transferability: The warranty is strictly valid only for the original purchaser whose name appears on the TransTec invoice. This warranty is non-transferable to subsequent owners if the vehicle is sold, unless expressly approved and agreed upon in writing by TransTec.
-
Disputes & Independent Assessment: In the event of a dispute regarding a warranty claim or workmanship, the vehicle/unit must be assessed by a mutually agreed-upon, independent third-party transmission specialist. The findings of this independent review will dictate fault and liability prior to any further action.
2. Transport & Labor Costs (Strictly Excluded)
-
No Fitting/Labor Liability: Transtec does not accept any responsibility or liability for vehicle recovery, removal, or refitting costs under any circumstances.
-
Shipping & Returns: All costs associated with the return of a unit to our premises for inspection—including pallet "return transport" and shipping—are the sole responsibility of the client.
-
Exchange Units: Core exchanges must be drained of oil and secured to a pallet ready for collection.
3. Critical Installation Requirements
Failure to follow these steps will void your warranty immediately:
-
Torque Converters: When fitting automatic transmissions, the torque converter must be fully seated and engaged. Failure to do so will result in immediate destruction of the oil pump and converter.
-
Oil Systems & Coolers: It is the installer's responsibility to check that the transmission oil cooler is operating correctly. It must be flushed and cleaned before fitting the new unit.
-
Fluids: Units are supplied as a "dry box" with no oil. You must strictly follow the manufacturer's exact oil filling procedure and use the specified oil type and volume.
-
Programming: Many units (such as the GM 6T45) require TCM programming and adaptations after installation to reset pressures and gear change memory.
4. Surcharges & Exchange Units
-
Condition: Core exchange transmissions must be returned complete, drained of all oil, and untampered with. They must be secured to a pallet ready for collection.
-
Casing: The unit casing must be in a serviceable condition with no cracks, holes, or welds, unless previously agreed upon (e.g., specific welding on main clips).
5. "Running In" Guidelines (First 1,000 Miles)
To allow new components like seals, frictions, and pistons to bed down, the following must be observed:
-
RPM Limit: Do not exceed 3,500 RPM.
-
Speed Limit: Do not exceed 70 mph.
-
No Kick-Down: Do not "plant your foot" or use the kick-down function.
-
No Towing: Do not tow or pull any loads with the vehicle during this period.
6. Payment, Collection, and Condition of Exchange
-
Methods: We accept Bank Transfer and Cash.
-
Business Hours: We operate strictly by appointment only and are closed on Sundays.
